Minutes of Jan. 7, 2008 Board Meeting

Call to Order:
Bob Walch called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m.

Minutes of the Dec. 18, 2007 Board meeting were approved without reading.

Treasurer's Report:

Vern Nelson reported that there was $310.52 in the bank account.  Moved,
seconded and passed unanimously that the account not be audited.

Activities Report:

Harold Thomas reported that Scottsdale Breakfast Club had scheduled a trip
to Kingman for breakfast Saturday, January 12.  SLAC members are invited to
attend.  Harold reported that he and his wife plan to fly their CT to the
event.  Ben Thompson also plans to fly a rented Cessna 182, and is
soliciting passengers.  Gary Vacin indicated that he is interested in riding
with Ben.

Harold also reported that the club has scheduled a fly-in to Tucson January
19 to visit the Pima Museum.  The Board suggested that Dick Vaughn be
contacted to see if he would be interested in arranging ground
transportation for the event.

Gary Vacin reported that he would investigate a Field Trip/Fly In to visit
Grosshawk, Unlimited, a Vintage/Warbird Restoration & Maintenance company
located at the Casa Grande Airport on February 22.

Programs Report:

Elton Dyal is back on board as Programs Director.  The following speakers
have been lined up for January through March:

January 21 - Preston Westmoreland, talk show host, will speak on aviation.

February 18 - Patricia Parks, member of the Flying Samaritans.

March 17 - Bob Newcomer will speak on his aviation experiences during WWII.

Provost/Publicity Report:

Gary Vacin reported that he was preparing an article about the February
meeting for the February issue of Splash.  He also is working with Tom
Malthaner to develop an interesting article about Tom's collection of World
War II models for submission to the Chandler Republic.

Webmaster Report:

Vern Nelson indicated that he would continue as Webmaster.

Old Business:

Vern Nelson circulated a letter soliciting contributions for the members to
offset the shortfall of $500 from the Club's annual budget.  Members
suggested several changes and suggested that Vern send the letter to all
members.

There being no further business brought before the Board, the meeting
adjourned at 10:32 a.m.
