NEW MEDS ADDED TO FAA'S APPROVED MEDICATIONS LIST
Struggle with high cholesterol or arthritis? Here's some good news from
the FAA: Two arthritis medications, Limbrel and Kineret, and a cholesterol- and
triglyceride-lowering drug, Welchol, have been approved for you to take and
still fly. However, you must ensure that your symptoms are under control and
that you are not suffering any adverse side effects from the medication. The
FAA also has added to its list of prohibited medications: Symmetrel and
Azilect, used to treat Parkinson's disease, and Razadyne for Alzheimer's
disease. Search AOPA's
medications database to find out if the medications you are taking or were
just prescribed are allowed by the FAA. If it is almost time to renew your
medical, fill out AOPA's interactive online TurboMedical Form. The
form will show you whether the medications you listed are allowed by the FAA.
