NOW SUBMIT YOUR NASA FORM ONLINE
Pilots who are
involved in an aviation incident can file NASA's Aviation Safety Reporting
System (ASRS) form online. The new electronic
submission form for downloading will give you confirmation that the
document was successfully submitted. Pilots should keep this confirmation as
proof that the document was filed. If you choose to mail the NASA form, you can
use AOPA's online interactive form or the original ASRS
form; these forms can not be sent electronically. Keep in mind that
whichever submission method you use, the report must be filed within 10 days of
the incident.
AIRCRAFT SELLERS
BEWARE; SCAMMERS STILL ON THE PROWL
AOPA members continue to alert the Pilot Information Center about an aircraft
buying scam. In a typical scenario, the "buyer" offers above asking
price for the aircraft and asks the seller to forward the difference to a third
party. The buyer pays with a bogus cashier's check, and the seller deposits the
check and forwards the excess money. Here's the catch. It can take two to three
weeks before a bank determines that the cashier's check is fraudulent. Once
it's discovered, the seller could be responsible for coming up with the money
he withdrew on the deposit. For questions about this or other scams you may have
seen, contact AOPA's Pilot Information Center at 800/USA-AOPA.
