NEWS OF INTEREST TO OUR MEMBERS

March 21st Monthly
Meeting:

March’s program will
be a talk by Stacey
Nichols,
Air Traffic and Tower Manager at the Chandler Municipal Airport. Stacey went into the USN in 1994, became an
Air Traffic Controller and was stationed at NAS Whiting Field in Milton, FL. She left the service in June, 1998 and came
to the Chandler Tower in September of the same year. She was promoted to Air Traffic Manager in October of 2005 and
still works in the tower every day. Her
additional duties in addition to talking to the airplanes require that half of
her shift be dedicated to administrative work, however her true love is still
talking to the pilots. Stacey says she
is learning something new every day.
· Member Harold Thomas will show a slide/video program of the new Kodiak plane which was designed for Missionary Work. Click on Kodiak Plane The Kodiak is scheduled to be at the Chandler Airport to start flight tests on Monday February 19th. They should be here a day or two earlier to be ready on Monday morning . Harold will contact the pilot on arrival and set up a time or two when we can all go out and look at the bird. They are planning on being here for at least two weeks, and maybe more depending on flight check program.

Activities:

9 members visited the Pimalco plant on Tuesday March 13th
. The tour was arranged by member Pete Tomalin who was with Alcoa
for 337 years. For details of the field

There
is a fly-in to the Apache Gold Casino in Globe scheduled for March 29th. Contact Dick Vaughn for details 895-2691 or
email DickSLAC@wbhsi.net. If you wish
to sign up for this fly-in.
Meet at the Jim
Cunningham Pilot Briefing Room at the Chandler Airport Terminal Building at
9:30 am Departure by 10 a.m. or
earlier. The Globe Airport is a short
walk across the freeway from the Casino.
1.5 Hours of gaming. Lunch at
the Casino about 12:30 p.m. and back to gaming or other pursuits such as
friendly conversations, etc. Depart
approximately 2:30 p.m. for a 3:00 pm arrival at the Chandler Airport. Costs will be determined later, however
Globe is not far and the cost should be minimal.

The Board is soliciting a
new Secretary for the club. The duties involve recording
and preparing the Board Minutes, maintaining the Roster of Members. and
preparing notices of meeting. The Roster
uses the Microsoft Excel program. If
you would like to learn to use this exciting program, now is the time to
volunteer. As Secretary you would
become a member of the Board. If anyone
