Communities are home to many individuals having varied interests and talents in
the arts, sciences, industry, medicine, and other diverse pursuits. This is the story of four individuals whose
life-experiences in aviation followed totally unrelated and vastly different
and separate orbits, but their orbits came together at just the right time in
Aldo Galvanoni, known to his friends as Al Galvi is the father and founder of the Sun Lakes Aero Club. Al was the lynch pin; he took the first steps in 1995 to organize the Club. If Al Galvi is the father and founder of the Sun Lakes Aero Club, then Elton Dyal (Deceased July 3, 2012) and Sam Doria (Deceased) are the foundation and building blocks . . . and Vern Nelson is the mortar.
They promoted a concept that all aviation enthusiasts were welcome to add their experience or interest to the amalgamation. From the very beginning the Clubs purpose has been to foster interest in aviation and to promote increased knowledge of all fields and endeavors of aviation to its members. Membership has always been open to those having widely varying interests, such as: Ultra-Lites, hot air balloons, sailplanes, home-built and factory built powered aircraft, radio controlled-power models and radio controlled sail plane models, rubber bank models, and paper airplanes. One activity the Club sponsors to share flight experiences with members is Fly-ins. If any object is dependent upon air molecules to break the bonds of gravity, that is good enough reason to join the Sun Lakes Aero Club. The Club they molded is open to anyone having fascination, interest, or experience in flight..
