Vern opened the meeting at
8:33 p.m. The minutes from the Special
Board Meeting, March 30, 2004 were approved.
Ray’s report from the General
Meeting was accepted, as follows: Ray Schrecengost,
Treasurer, reported that the Club had 101 members, however only 86 had paid the
2004 dues. Ray said he would terminate
the 15 members after the meeting who had not paid their dues. He reported that the Club has $916.75 in the
bank and he has $13 to deposit. (NOTE: Following the meeting, Ray made it
official by terminating the memberships of 15 persons; therefore, the Club
membership total is 86. Of the total
membership, nine members do not have e-mail capability.)
Elton’s reported that the
program featuring Major General Farrington will be deferred until November when
a larger attendance can be guaranteed.
Elton reported that the guest speaker next month will be Dave Pape.
Bill Johnson’s report from
the General Meeting was accepted, as follows: Bill Johnson, Activities Officer,
introduced himself to the members at Jim Boones request and announced that
he is the point-of-contact for the Fly-In to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He reiterated plans to visit the Eclipse
aircraft factory and the nuclear museum.
Bill reported that only 2 planes have been made available for the
Albuquerque trip. Bill gave a brief
report about the Fly-In to Edwards AFB.
The activities included a visit to the Air Force Flight Test Museum and
Joshua Approach Control, the FAA TRACON facility co-located on Edwards AFB.
Vern polled the members of
the Board on their usage of the SLAC Web Site and found that it was used
generally for its data base.
Vern announced his
resignation as the President of the Club for personal reasons. The Board passed a motion making Jim Boone
the President. By a show
of hands the Board selected Vern Nelson to be the Vice President.
A discussion about soliciting
pilots owning aircraft ensued. The
discussion expanded to the frequency of scheduled Fly-Ins and the reimbursement
of pilots. Without a formal action, it was agreed that pilots should be reimbursed
based on the actual operating cost of their aircraft, understanding that each
aircraft’s operating cost is discrete to that aircraft. It was further agreed that Bill Johnson
would apply a formula that he has developed to provide aircraft specific
guidelines for reimbursements to pilots. No formal actions were taken.
The meeting ended at 9:15
p.m.
Respectfully submitted
Robert D. Earl, Secretary
