The Board approved the minutes from the Board meeting of October 19, 2004.

Ray Schrecengost, Treasurer, reported that the club has $568.22.  A banner was recently purchased to be used to advertise the Sun Lakes Aero Club at activities where a booth may be set up to solicit new members.  The Board approved club dues for 2005 to be $10.00.

The Board discussed the need to energize more members to become involved supporting the club by seeking club officer positions, volunteering to assist in club activities, and participate with other members who are producing the work of two or more people.  For example, a volunteer of nominee for the office of Secretary is sought, the Activities Officer needs assistance, and the Web Manager could use some help.

Bill Johnson, Activities Officer, is working to produce a survey form to distribute among the pilots, who provide aircraft for club activities, to determine what destinations they would like to visit during a Fly-In and which days of the week are usually available for travel.

Elton Dyal, Programs Officer, said the speaker for November 17 has not been determined.  A female missionary pilot who flew missions in Africa may present the program if Jim Parish can make the final arrangements in time.  Otherwise, videos and war stories will be in order.  The December program will feature General Bud Ferrington, USAF retired, who will discuss his experiences in F-105s over Hanoi.  The January program will be presented by Dan Fulgham.  Dan is a veteran airman who served in Korea and Viet Nam.  Dan is also remembered for making a parachute jump from about 65,000 feet.  Art Faulk, of the American Bonanza Association, and Mike Halloran, FAA Safety Program Manager, will be scheduled for February, March, or April.  Elton is open to suggestions for speakers for other meetings in 2005.

Elton Dyal reported on SLAC participation at the Commemorative Air Force booth during a recent open house at Mesa Falcon Field.  He said 6 to 10 SLAC members greeted individuals and introduced them to our club.

Bill Johnson reviewed future activities that are planned for Fly-Ins and Field Trips.  He stated there are 7 planes with room for 17 to 19 passengers for the Fly-In to San Diego on December 5th to visit the carrier Midway which is now a museum.  It is possible that more planes will become available.

Bill Johnson and Sam Doria, Board Member at Large, provided information regarding SLAC jackets, embroidery, and patches.  This information will be summarized and shared with the members.

Vern Nelson, Vice President and Web Manager, reported for the calendar year ended October 31, there were 7,519 visitors to the SLAC web site, 3,346 were first time visits.  Visitors from 25 countries have been recorded.  Vern said that the maintenance of the web site “is a lot of work.”  He said there are typically 3 or 4 individuals involved in a web site such as the one he manages for our club.  He would appreciate some assistance.

Prior to closing the meeting Bob Earl, Secretary, presented information regarding the two Field Trips planned to the FAA TRACON, December 1 and December 17.  The December 1 group is full, but there is room for more members to join the December 17 group.  The Board also discussed possibilities for future Field Trips, such as to Intel, Rotorway Helicopters, and the Boeing Apache Helicopter plant.

Jim Boone closed the meeting at 10:15 a.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Robert D. Earl, November 16, 2004
