Chairman Dick Vaughn opened the meeting at 9:05 A.M.

The minutes of the January 17, 2006 meeting were approved without change.

Ray Schrecengost, Treasurer, reported that the Club has $837.346 in its bank account and that 42 members have paid their 2006 dues.

Vern Nelson, Web Manager, reported that the SLAC Website had 1,223 visitors for the 30 days ended February 12th.  During that time, visitors reviewed 5,279 pages.

Bill Johnson, Activities Officer, reported on the Fly-in to the March Air-Force Museum.  There were 4 planes and 15 participants.  He also reported that plans were under way for a Fly-in to visit the Missile and the Air and Space Museums in the Tucson area on Tuesday February 28th.  Bill asked for discussion concerning the potential Fly-in to Monument Valley.  After much discussion the Board agreed that the Fly-in should be abandoned because the landing strip is a 1,000 ft. paved strip and the rest is a dirt runway. Also, the approach and departure is one way and there are occasionally high winds in the area.  The Fly-in for the latter part of March is scheduled for a one day trip to Page to visit the attractions at Lake Powell.

Elton Dyal, Program Officer, reported that he and Al Galvi are scheduled to speak on behalf of SLAC at the Women’s Connection on Thursday February 16th at 9:00 A.M. at Oakwood.  They will be showing slides of the various SLAC activities that have taken place in the past.  He also reported that Gary Vacin is scheduled to speak at tomorrows general meeting.  The speaker for the March 15th meeting is Greg Chenoweth, Manager of the Chandler Airport.

New Business:

Bill Johnson requested that SLAC search for someone to take over the duties of the Activities Officer because he is becoming more involved in the maintenance of the SLAC Website and cannot perform both duties.  It was suggested that the membership be solicited for someone to take over his present duties.

The Board re-visited the reimbursement of pilots.  It was decided to continue with the present program of reimbursing pilots for Gas, Oil, landing and tie down fees at the destination airport.  This is the only legal way SLAC may reimburse pilots under the present FAA Regulations.  Pilots of rental aircraft will participate on the same basis as pilots with owned aircraft.

The president adjourned the meeting at 10:30 A.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Vern Nelson, Recording Secretary for Bob Earl, Secretary.
