OF THE

BOARD MEETING

Date of Meeting: March 14, 2006

Present t the Meeting:

Dick Vaughn, President

Bob Walch, Vice President

Vern Nelson, Web Manager

Bob Earl, Secretary

Bill Johnson, Activities Officer

Bernie Peterson, Provost

Al Galvi, Member at Large

Absent from the Meeting:

Ray Schrecengost, Treasurer

Elton Dyal, Program Officer

Gary Vacin, Member at Large

Dick Vaughn opened the meeting at 9:30 AM.

In Ray Schrecengost’s absence, Dick reported there is a bit more than $1,000 in the Club’s account.

Vern Nelson gave a report about the recent activity by those accessing the Club’s web site and discussed some of the problems he has been encountering.

Bill Johnson recounted the recent Fly-In to the Titan Missile Museum and discussed plans for the upcoming Fly-In to Page, Arizona and Lake Powell.  He also discussed plans under development for a local Field Trip.  Jim Parish, Harold Thomas and Ben Thompson are lending a hand on the Activities committee.

In Elton Dyal’s absence, Dick reported that Art Akers would present the program on March 15 and Greg Chenoweth is scheduled for the April meeting.

Al Galvi reported that he and Elton enjoyed speaking at the Women’s Connection Club.  They said they were double booked with another speaker who is a retired airline captain who was very entertaining and knowledgeable.  They solicited him for a program at one of our future meetings.

Under New Business a motion made by Bob Earl did not receive a second and died on the table; no action was taken.

Under New Business the Board agreed that the Activities Officer should distribute the Activities Accounting Worksheets from each Fly-In to the Treasurer for archiving and to other appropriate individuals, such as the pilots.

Dick reported that Ray Schrecengost has resigned as Treasurer because of health issues.  Dick nominated Bernie Peterson to fill the vacancy as Treasurer and asked for nominations from other Board members.  No other nominations were provided and the Board elected Bernie Peterson as the Treasurer.  Bernie also holds the office of Provost, but Dick will be soliciting the membership to take the Provost office.  Bernie offered his support and assistance to aid the new Provost.  The Board is saddened that Ray decided to leave the Board, but the Board desires that Ray should concentrate on maintaining a healthy body.

Dick recognized Vern Nelson who said he wanted to be relieved of his position on the Board, but he offered to continue to administer the SLAC Web Site.  His resignation was accepted and his offer to continue administering the web site was gladly accepted.  It was decided that Vern will continue to administer the web site and the office of Web Manager will be left vacant until further advised.  Dick will be looking for another member to fill a position on the Board as Member at Large in order to maintain the required number of officers.

The Board recognizes this as a time of transition.  Losing Ray and Vern is a significant loss to our Club.  They are pioneers of our organization and the loss of their energy and influence in club matters will result in a significant void.  It is time for others to step up to provide guidance and leadership.  The alternative will not be good.

Dick closed the meeting at 10:55 AM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Robert Earl, Secretary
