Website Report:  Vern Nelson, Web Manager.

No report.  The website appears to be current.

Programs Report: Elton Dyal

Programs for meetings starting in October, 2006:

Hope to schedule Lonnie McClure, Retired Naval Officer.  Discussed possibility of a presentation on Sailplanes, Gary Vacin has some information related to this and will pass the information on to Elton Dyal..

Al Galvi suggested trying to get a speaker from the Refueling Group at Sky Harbor.  Ray Schrecengost will furnish a contact for Al.  Al also suggested getting the documentaries of famous pilots on CD or VCR tapes for showing at our meetings.

Al also stated that Bernie Peterson had given him a lead to possibly getting Chuck Sweeney, USN Ret. as one of our future speakers.  Chuck lives in Oakwood and was on both of the B-29’s that dropped the atomic bombs on Japan..

Activities Report: Bill Johnson

The Fly-in to San Diego to tour the USS Midway Museum scheduled for May 5th was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions and the back up flight was made to Palm Springs to visit the Air Museum.  2 planes and 8 members participated.  Details can be viewed at Palm Springs Fly-In   Bill also is considering attempting another fly-in to tour the USS Midway in the Fall. The Board also discussed a possible overnight trip to Moab, Utah to tour the Canyonlands.

Provost Report: Gary Vacin, Provost
Ray Schrecengost suggested attendees at the regular monthly meetings be recorded on the club roster.  Gary Vacin said he will follow up with Bernie Peterson.

New Business:

Al Galvi suggested rearranging the seating at the regular monthly meetings so the audience in back can see the screen better when video or slide show presentations are made.  Ray Schrecengost recommended moving the head table to the side instead of being directly in front of the screen.

Al Galvi presented a motion aimed at attracting more pilots to fly their planes on fly-ins.  He moved, seconded by Elton Dyal and unanimously approved, to hold a trial drawing for SLAC pilots who own or rent planes and participate in the first fall fly-in.  The drawing would take place at the first SLAC meeting following the first fly-in and the winning pilot would receive a cash award of $200.  The funds would come from the SLAC treasury.  If this proves successful in attracting additional fly-in pilots, the Board would consider raising the dues for 2007 to $15

The Board appointed Bob Walch to the position of Club Secretary to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Bob Earl.  .
