Minutes of the Board Meeting

Call to
Order:
President Bob
Walch called the meeting to order at 9:30 AM.
President
Walch announced that Harold Thomas, Activity Director, has resigned. It was
suggested to ask Jim Space or Dick Vaughan to be Activity Director.
Gary motioned
to accept the minutes of February 12, 2008 as written and Vern seconded. Motion
passed.
Treasurer's
Report:
Vern reported
that the bank balance as of March 11, 2008 was $625. He also submitted an
operating expense budget for fiscal year ending May 31, 2008, estimated from
March 11, 2008.
The Board
discussed changing the fiscal year from the current calendar year to one from
June 01, to May 31. After much discussion, Gary made a motion and Tom seconded
that the Board not change the current calendar fiscal year. Motion passed.
President Bob
will send a message to all members that the dues for this fiscal year will be
$15 and can be paid at the March, April or May General meetings. Members can
also pay Vern directly via mail. It was decided by the Board to drop members if
they
do not pay
their dues after receiving the 3rd notice.
Gary motioned
and Tom seconded to accept the Treasurer's report. Motion passed
Activity
Report:
The fly-into
Page, AZ. has been cancelled.
The Board
decided to concentrate on the overnight fly-in to San Diego on the 19th & 20th of April. Al will
pursue finding a Motel/Hotel on Harbor Drive near the Midway Museum for rates
and the Airports for rental vehicles.
Pilots and
members will get their own reservations at the selected Motel/Hotel ASAP.
Pilots will
get their own passengers and fly into either Montgomery Field or Gillespie
Field.
Pilots will
rent vehicles for him and his passengers at the airport(s).
All vehicles
will meet at the hotel and, perhaps, have lunch and visit and then go to the
Air & Space Museum at Balboa Park.
All will
return to the Hotel for dinner and hopefully a presentation by Jim Theobald.
The next
morning, tour the Carrier "Midway". Then return to the field(s) for
return to Chandler in the PM on the 20th.
Board member
will meet on Wednesday March 26th at 9 AM in the card room of Phase 1 to
finalize the San Diego plan.
Program
Report:
Bob Newcomer
will speak on March 17 about his flying experiences
Bobby Balbock, the Airline Pilot, will speak on April 21,
2008.
Member Jon
Melby will speak on May 19 about flying the Pitts Special.
Provost
Marshal/Publicity Report:
Gary will
write an article on the field trip to Gosshawk Facility at Casa Grande Airport
and give it to the Splash.
Webmaster
Report:
Vern asked if
the web site .is worth all the effort expended.
The response
was an resounding; "Oh Yes". He stressed once again that it is imperative to obtain an assistant that he can train
to take over from him.
New
Business:
Al mentioned
he has a book written by Leroy Allen Clement, Jr. Clem was a Naval pilot in
service from 01/19/42 to 02/19/72. He obtain
the rank of Lt. Commander when He retired. He lives here in Sun Lakes. Clem donated
it to the Aero Club for all to read. Torn Malthaner has the book now.
The next
Board meeting will. be on April 08 at 9:30 in the card room of Phase 1 club house.
The Board approved a motion to adjourn at 11 AM.
