Betty Blake,
a World War II WASP, will be our speaker.
After 65 years, President Obama recently honored Betty and those still
living that helped the U. S. win WWII by flying the planes needed from the
manufacturers to the Army Air Force bases where they were needed.
Betty,
who lives in Scottsdale, joined the WASPs at 21 years of age and flew 37
different types of aircraft. She was in Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941 when the
Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. These
women, called Women AirForce Service Pilots (WASPS), were the first line of
defense between the manufacturers and the pilots who flew combat.
