Aero Club to hear from glider pilot
††††††††† Sun Lakes resident Ben Thompson, who has flown both conventional aircraft and sailplanes (gliders),† will be give a presentation to† the Sun Lakes Aero Club (SLAC) Monday, February 21 at the Sun Lakes Country Club.† The public is invited to attend the meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. with coffee and camaraderie followed by Thompsonís presentation at 7:00 p.m.
††††††††† Thompsonís power-point presentation will cover the basics of soaring† and† describe his experience logging approximately 160† hours flying sailplanes.† He began flying gliders in Ohio in 1971, and also flew tow planes.† Currently he flies out of the Estrella† Sailport located about 40 miles southwest of Sun Lakes.† He has logged some 800 hours in conventional aircraft, and has also flown hang gliders and motor gliders.
