Member Gary Farrell will be the featured speaker at the SLAC monthly meeting on Monday May 18, 2009
His
career spanned 30 years of helicopter and fixed wing
flying including the LA County Sheriffs Department (patrol,
surveillance, rescue and prisoner transport), TV and Motion Picture work, LA
News coverage from the 84 Olympics, and the Americas cup, NASCAR coverage, car
pursuits, fires, floods, earthquakes, riots; owning and operating 3 Air Carrier
Certificates in California and Hawaii, owning and operating 30 aircraft
with 75 employees. The pilots antic's and the good and not so good days
of the business.
I can speak to a wide range of involvement including how I started my
Helicopter company moving $Billions of dollar in bank securities every
day. My 12,000 hours have included two
accidents due to maintenance issues, two on board fires, 4 different engine
failures (one of the crashes that was on the roof of the B of A
building in downtown Los Angeles, at night) and a variety
of experiences, included with some photos that I can poster board and
with some aircraft you have perhaps seen on TV.
I look forward to sharing and hope the members will enjoy my little ride along
in the aviation world.
